According to Wikipedia, modding refers to the modification or alteration of content in a video game so that it will operate differently than its original version. In Ford Racing 3, modding is possible on the PC version similar to Ford Racing 2 although it is very limited.
Adding the 2003 Ford Visos Concept[]
This type of modding allows you to add the 2003 Ford Visos Concept into the PC version of the game so that it becomes a playable vehicle.
The unreleased Ford Visos Concept.
Changing Vehicle Groups[]
This type of modding allows you to change the category of any vehicle so that they can race with other types of vehicles of different categories. This can allow cars other than those in Off-Road, possible to race on racetracks such as Pacific Drive and Arctic Breeze.
To achieve this, open up "CARDATA.dat" in the directory "Empire Interactive/Ford Racing 3/DATA/ASCII/CARS" using Notepad or any similar software. After that, locate the following line on any car.
:CAR_GROUP_TYPE [GROUP]
Replace "[GROUP]" with a new one such as "PERFORMANCE" or "OFFROAD" (quotations not needed). Save the file and load the game, the vehicle will now be playable in the new group you have given.
Performance Modding[]
This modding involves altering the vehicle's original performance or vehicle group so that it will function differently than usual. For example, the performance of the 1923 Ford Model T Sedan can be altered so that it can drive as fast as most Performance vehicles.
To do this, simply go to the directory "Empire Interactive/Ford Racing 3/DATA/ASCII/CARS". Afterwards, open up the file "CARDATA.dat" using Notepad or any similar software and locate the Ford Model T data, which is located at the top.
Remember to make a backup copy of "CARDATA.dat" before you save the file. Copy and paste the following onto the original data.
:CAR_TYPE MODEL_A
:CAR_SETUP_TYPE MACH3
:CAR_BODY_TYPE MODEL_A
:CAR_ENGINE_TYPE MACH3
:CAR_GEARBOX_TYPE ROAD_RWD
:CAR_BRAKE_TYPE ROAD
:CAR_FRONT_TYRE_TYPE ROAD_R330x252
:CAR_BACK_TYRE_TYPE ROAD_R356x291
:CAR_CONTROL_TYPE MODERN_ROAD
:CAR_GROUP_TYPE PERFORMANCE
:TIME_CAR_GROUP_TYPE CLASSIC
:CAR_SOUND_TYPE MODEL_A
:INGAME_TEXT_ENUM TXT_CARS_MODELA
:INGAME_SHORT_TEXT_ENUM TXT_CARS_MODELA_SHORT
:CAR_APPROVED 1
After saving the file, the game should run normally if everything is done correctly, and you will be able to drive the Ford Model T on Performance. This can also be done using different cars, however the performance will vary.
