Excluding the arcade version, Ford Challenge is a game mode in Single Player where the player can participate in different types of challenges from different challenge themes using a specific vehicle, racetrack and race type. It is one of the most important game modes, the other being Ford Competition, as it consists of fifty percent the overall game progress.
In each challenge theme, completing a challenge on any difficulty will unlock the vehicle, the racetrack, the race type and any subsequent challenges. The livery pack for certain vehicles only can only be unlocked by completing it on Medium or Hard difficulty, and the challenge token can only be unlocked by completing it on Hard difficulty. Subsequently, completing all challenges in a certain theme on any difficulty will grant the challenge theme shield trophy and completing all challenge themes on any difficulty will grant the Ford Challenge Trophy. After collecting the rewards, the player can use them in Ford Collection mode.
In all versions except for arcade, there are a total of seven challenge themes in this game mode.
